OFW in Malaysia held captive by employer seeks the help of labor officials for repatriation

Press Release:
October 3, 2015
A Household Service Worker who was recruited by a local recruitment agency has sought the help the DOLE Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz and DFA Undersecretary Jesus Yabes, Office of Migrant Affairs for her repatriation to the country as her employer is holding her hostage and refuses to release her to the Philippine Labor Office in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Through the Facebook account of the OFW Family Part-List in Italy,  Ms. Lorelie L. Salino posted her request for repatriation after her original contract was substituted by the foreign recruitment agency (FRA) upon her arrival lowering her salaries and removing the day/rest day provision in the original contract she signed with the local agency Philcango International Recruitment Agency.

Her employer also prevented her from sending money to the Philippines and this further strained their relationship. Soriano’s calls to the local agency has fallen on deaf ears and she feels that PhilCango is avoiding her request for repatriation thus she posted on the FB account of OFW Part-List Italy Chapter.

Her employer refuses to turn her over until she pays the recruitment cost for her deployment to Malaysia by PhilCango International.

Roy M. Seneres, Jr. President of the OFW Family-Party List wrote Labor Attache Elizabeth Maria Estrada to Malaysia to look into the matter and fired off the same letter to DOLE Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz copy furnished to the OUMWA of the DFA.

Datuk Felix M. Landicho Jr., KRSS  Chapter President of the OFW Family Party-List in Italy forwarded this request to recruitment consultant Emmanuel Geslani.
